Description

The dive site is on the south-west side of the Island of San Domino and more precisely in the vicinity of the Secca del Pigno at a depth between 49 and 54 metres.

A demanding dive, reserved for divers with experience and a specific certification, very fascinating and extraordinary if performed at night.

positioned before immersion. The fantastic descent into the blue takes right above the remains of the wreckage of the plane, currently wrapped in a dragnet. The dive offers strong emotions and in addition to being able to observe some parts of the plane such as: wing, tank and components still with serial numbers, it allows you to observe lobsters, conger eels of considerable size and usually an enormous lobster: "the tank" that just hides them.

All around on the seabed of sand and sediment there are numerous "Pennatules", splendid coelenterates.

The night dive is definitely spectacular. Unfortunately for few, given the even more demanding and technical characteristics of the dive, but truly unique.

The wreck is as if it comes to life, the darkness and the intensity of the light from the lamps enhances every little detail, everything seems clearer, so much so that many details are being examined e currently in phase study have been identified just with night dives

The wreckage of the plane was identified by MARLINTREMITI in June 2008.

Currently, in collaboration with experts, samples and serial numbers identified on some components are being examined.

The objective is to identify the aircraft and the crew.
